Oklahoma Southeast is gearing up for another great Lt. Governor Invitational Turkey Hunt that is sure to be packed with opportunities for learning and great conversation! The event committee, chaired by long-time Oklahoma Southeast member, Harolynn Wofford has put together another great lineup for visiting site selectors, business owners, and organization members.
The event will kick off on Wednesday, April 23rd, with a guest reception and dinner at the Hospitality House on Hugo Lake State Park. Dinner is sponsored by our friends at Jay Hodge Dodge - The Great Graze.
Thursday will start with a turkey hunt with Brandon Wall followed by brunch at the Hospitality House sponsored by Ed Wallace Ford. One of the most important pieces of the event, the Roundtable Discussion, will take place at 4:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for our site selectors and guests to answer questions directly from Oklahoma Southeast members. Members will learn how their communities can meet the needs of expanding businesses and attract them for a visit. It's a great way to learn how to prepare for new development, make contacts, and network with peers across the region.
The Lt. Governor is expected to make an appearance and provide brief remarks in the evening. Dinner will be provided by Choctaw County EMS at 7:00 p.m.
Hunters who have not taken a turkey will go back out on Friday morning. We hope all of our hunters get a great turkey!
This event is not about the hunting, the food, the fun (even though we like all of those things in Southeast Oklahoma!) but about the contacts, the camaraderie, the relationship building, and the engagement. You get out of it what you put in. We encourage all representatives of member communities to practice their community elevator pitch. Consider partnerships with surrounding communities. Make sure your utility company reps know what you're looking for so they can be an advocate and partner to you.
Have a great time and contact Harolynn if you have any questions at 580-969-8064.
